Winter is just around the corner—and with the cool change comes the desire to stay indoors. However, just because you might be spending more time at home, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy little luxuries like chic and delicious cocktails!
So, to help you brave those wintery weekend evenings, we’re sharing five of our favourite cool-weather cocktails, perfect for those cosy nights in at home.
These cocktail recipes are intended for people above the age of 18. As always, please enjoy them responsibly and in moderation.
1. Nespresso Martini
Calling all coffee lovers! You’re going to want to check out this super-simple and oh-so-delicious take on the classic Espresso Martini by our friends at Nespresso.
What you’ll need:
• 1 Nespresso Professional Ristretto capsule extracted as a 25mL Ristretto
• 15ml of vodka
• 10ml of coffee liquor
• 5 ice cubes
Method:
1. Extract coffee into a glass.
2. Put ice, vodka and coffee liquor into a cocktail shaker and shake it to chill (when it starts to create foam).
3. Pour the liquid and foam into the glass removing the ice cubes with the strainer.
4. Serve immediately.
2. Berry Fizz Cocktail
This fresh and fizzy cocktail by HOORAY! is the perfect balance between sweet and sour. Not only does it taste divine, but it also looks amazing! So, why not try it for yourself?
What you’ll need:
• 1 shot raspberry vodka
• 1 shot raspberry sugar syrup
• A handful of fresh raspberries, blueberries and strawberries
• Chilled sparkling Moscato
Method:
1. Add strawberries, raspberries and blueberries to a glass.
2. Fill 3/4 with sparkling Moscato.
3. Add raspberry vodka and sugar syrup.
4. Top with sparkling Moscato and stir.
5. Adorn your glass additional fruit or fresh florals
3. Four Pillars Red Snapper
We are loving this take on a Bloody Mary by Four Pillars Gin. If you’re into drinks that are bold, spicy and savoury, this one’s for you!
What you’ll need:
• 45ml Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin
• 60ml tomato juice
• 20ml lemon juice
• 30ml homemade chilli vinegar
• 15ml Worcestershire sauce
• Salt and pepper
Method:
1. Combine all ingredients in a large glass with ice
2. Stir to chill
3. Garnish with a celery stalk, lemon wedge, and salt and fresh cracked pepper
4. Gewürzhaus Mulled Wine
Nothing says ‘Winter’ quite like a warm and hearty spiced beverage. Luckily for us, Gewürzhaus are sharing their recipe for Mulled Wine; a traditional Winter sipper that is all the above.
What you’ll need:
• 1 bottle of red wine (preferably Merlot)
• 60g Gewürzhaus Vanilla Bean Sugar (can substitute for brown, raw or white sugar)
• 2 tsp Gewürzhaus Glühwein Gewürz
• 1 single-use tea bag/infuser bag
Method:
1. Place two teaspoons of the Glühwein Gewürz into the single use tea bag/infuser bag.
2. Then heat the wine with Vanilla Bean Sugar and the bag of Glühwein Gewürz for approximately 15-20 minutes. Be careful not to boil.
3. Serve warm in glasses and as an option, add in a slice of orange and cinnamon quill.
5. Four Pillars Changing Seasons Winter Gin
This silky-smooth Winter cocktail by Four Pillars is sure to be adored by all of the Gin lovers in your life! It features their delicious changing seasons gin, matcha powder and lemon for a hint of zest.
What you’ll need:
• 45ml Changing Seasons Gin
• 25ml fresh lemon juice
• 10ml Lillet Blanc
• 10ml white crème de cacao
• 5ml sugar syrup
• Dash of egg white
• Matcha powder
Method:
1. Shake and fine strain into a chilled coupette
2. Dust with matcha powder
