We can’t think of a more perfect union of two brands, the limited edition R.M. Williams x Wallabies collection has hit stores. The collection is a fitting tribute to the success of the sporting greats from the Wallabies, with 1990s colours, motifs and even an era-specific archival R.M.Williams logo adorning the range.
This special range of products, including scarves, caps, jerseys and boots, is set to serve as the ultimate fan gear when the Wallabies head to France in pursuit of glory later this year. It’s the start of a golden decade for rugby in Australia and a full circle moment in many ways, with the 1990s offering a wealth of nostalgic inspiration. The opportunities to mix and match within the range are endless.
To celebrate the launch of their limited edition R.M.Williams x Wallabies collection, R.M.Williams connected with a line-up of Australian rugby legends for a very special campaign. Former Wallabies players George Smith, Phil Waugh, Stirling Mortlock, Mark Ella, Nick Farr-Jones and David Campese slip back into their rugby jerseys as we pay tribute to the heydays of Australian rugby and the union of two homegrown powerhouses.
“The Wallabies are very iconic and R.M.Williams is such an iconic Australian brand,” says Phil Waugh, former Wallabies player and recently appointed CEO of Rugby Australia, “the partnership is very powerful.”
A spirit of homegrown excellence is present throughout the campaign and the collection, which includes limited edition leather boots, crafted by hand at our Adelaide workshop. Finished with special green and gold tugs, the boots are set to become treasured collector’s items for the stylish sports fan.
Combining shades of Australian gold, R.M.Williams Chestnut brown and the soft blue of archival Wallabies uniforms and the iconic Grazier shirt colour RM once wore everyday, the collection is a true union of homegrown excellence
Key pieces in the collection:
Wallabies Craftsman Boot
Only 300 pairs of the R.M.Williams x Wallabies Comfort Craftsman and Lady Yearling boots will be made – don’t miss out on your chance to own a piece of Australian legend. This fresh take on their bestselling Craftsman Boot features special branded tugs, adorned with the Wallabies logo.
The Ultimate Rugby Jersey
The collection’s pinnacle is the R.M.Williams x Wallabies Rugby Jersey, based on a familiar and much-loved silhouette in the R.M.Williams offering.
“The rugby jersey is a classic R.M.Williams style that customers seek out every season, so the opportunity to refresh that look with sporting motifs and subtle Wallabies details was a real pleasure,” Daniel, R.M.Williams Special Projects Manager explains. “We took every opportunity to bring in elements of both the Wallabies visual identity and archival R.M.Williams design cues, so the final jersey feels like a true representation of the partnership.”
R.M. Williams Heritage Rugby Ball
Add to your growing R.M.Williams collection with the Heritage Rugby Ball, a cowhide, branded rugby ball that proudly displays the R.M.Williams logo from the 90s, the heydays of Australian rugby. Each ball is the culmination of 18 unique processes, 216 stitches and over a day's artisanal labour by our experienced partners at Farrah Designs in Melbourne.
Only 50 balls have been crafted in total, so it's a true collector's item for those with a love for Australian leather craft. Whether you give it a run for a friendly match with mates or display it proudly as an ornament, it's sure to become a future heirloom.
