Bloom Lab

The Bloom Lab

This school holiday, step into the Bloom Lab—a Floriade-inspired wonderland of science, creativity, and design.
Published 12 September

From 27 September – 12 October 2025, families are invited to wander through an imaginative blueprint floor, where flower making comes to life against the backdrop of a forest floor. Explore three industrial-inspired Incubators—Sew, Smell, and Sizzle—each filled with tactile, sensory experiments, from stitching leaves to brewing floral scents and cooking up petals ready to bloom.

At the heart of the installation sits the iconic Canberra Bus Shelter, a beloved local landmark designed in 1974 by architect Clem Cummings, reimagined as a collaborative floral artwork in Floriade flair.

Children can add their own decorated leaves and petals to this community artwork, making their mark on an unmistakable symbol of the city.

Families can also enjoy:

Creating take-home floral pinwheels
Discovering Floriade-inspired garden creatures around the Bloom Lab experience plus
Capturing a moment inside a bus shelter embellished with florals

Alongside the The Bloom Lab experience, exclusive retailer workshops and partnership events will be available throughout the holidays, offering even more ways to play, create, and celebrate spring at Canberra Centre.

The Bloom Lab will be open from 11am-2pm daily at Centre Court.
