This August, Canberra Centre is bringing science to life with a series of interactive and inspiring experiences for all ages. Across two weekends, Science in the Centres will transform Centre Court into a hub of discovery, curiosity and hands-on learning.
Whether you're a budding scientist, curious mind or simply looking for a fun and educational outing for the family, join us and explore everything from deep space to robotics, reptiles and more.

Weekend 1:
Saturday 15 August and Sunday 16 August – Australian National Botanic Gardens
Discover, create, experiment and be inspired by the science of seeds.
Join the Australian National Botanic Gardens and the National Seed Bank for hands-on activities that explore the fascinating world of seeds and plant science. Design and test your own “flying” seed and discover how seed shape and size help plants spread across the landscape.
Whether you’re a budding scientist, nature enthusiast or simply curious about the natural world, there’s something for you to enjoy.


Weekend 2:
Saturday 22 August – Robogals
Spark your imagination with robotics and engineering.
Join the Robogals team for interactive STEM activities where children can build and program robots and take on engineering challenges. Perfect for curious young minds, especially girls interested in exploring science and technology.


Sunday 23 August – Canberra Reptile Zoo
Meet some of Canberra’s coolest creatures!The Canberra Reptile Zoo is bringing a selection of fascinating reptiles right into the heart of the Centre. From slithering snakes to scaly lizards, it’s a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with native wildlife — safely, of course.
